Case Studies - Toys/ Children's Food Containers
Green Toys- Ferry
Here I explore materials in existing toys. This ferry with two cars are made by Green Toys who use recycled HDPE from milk containers. They also do not use any other materials which is an amazing feat of engineering. I explore details such as the number of parts, how they fit together and what kind of details this material is able to hold.
Green Toys- Rocket Ship
This is the rocket ship made by Green Toys. There are a number of interesting aspects to this toy. The locking mechanisim for the shuttle and the hinges and allowances for the doors show the ability to make this material to be able to have working mechanisims that hold well.
The details on the bottom of both ships and the inside of the doors are a nice detail and showcase the ability to mold small details.
Design and material are nice to touch and hold as well. The texture is also pleasing.
Green Toys- Tugboat
The tug boat is made by Green Toys and is an example of a very solid toy. The parts a pressed together in the manufacturing process and cannot be pulled apart. There are only three pieces to this toy.
Shark Food Container
The shark food container is an inexpensive product sold in a grocery store. It has several problems. The top portion does not fit the base. Also when closing it a corner gets caught in the base (bottom row right).
There is also a large amount of overhang from the lid which lessens the ability for the lid to stay connected to the base.
